Waves of Honor

Navigating the path home through maritime traditions, peer support, and the restorative power of the Maine coast.

Intimate Cohorts. We host small groups of only six participants so trust forms quickly and no one hides in a crowd.

Maritime Traditions. Participants learn to read fishing waters and navigate the York River alongside local lobstermen.

Peer-Led Connection. Led by peers who have walked the same path, we focus on authentic understanding without forced sharing.

Our Retreats

Season: We run retreats from late spring through early fall, when the Maine coast is at its best.

  • Cohorts: One week-long maritime therapy retreat, several times each season.

  • Intimate Experience: Six participants per retreat. Small enough that trust forms and nobody hides in a crowd.

  • Annual Goal: Twenty-four Veterans, First Responders, and Intelligence Community professionals every year.

  • 2027: Four retreats planned.

Restoring Identity, Not Just Reflecting

Our “challenge by choice” philosophy meets participants where they are. Transformation happens through shared experiences. Experiences like reading fishing waters successfully, hauling lobster traps as a team, and learning how to navigate as a crew, rather than the normal clinical interventions. These moments become touchstones that participants carry forward long after they return home.

Location & Community

Rooted in the York Community

The York River: Participants spend time kayaking the York River as part of their shared experience.

  • Local Maritime Guides: We work with local fishing guides to teach participants how to read the waters and navigate the coast.

  • Lobstering Traditions: Participants learn alongside a small local lobsterman operation, gaining hands-on experience hauling traps and working as a crew.

  • Community Meals: Evenings center on family-style meals and fireside reflection, creating a non-clinical environment for restoring identity.
